HOW TO REARRANGE AND CREATE MULTIPLE COPIES OF THE MAIN MENU!

Hi all, here’s my new post. This time with MS Office ‘03

I was happened to read about an Easter egg in outlook 2000 and I tried the same in OE 2003, but it didn’t work. Though it didn’t I found a way to rearrange the menu’s in OE 2003. Here’s how

  • Open Outlook 2003. [ you can do this on word, excel, power point, access, InfoPath and publisher ]
  • Hold down the keys Ctrl & Alt.
  • Press on any of the menu item. [E.g.: press on the “File” menu]
  • You can see a ‘+’ sign along with the mouse pointer now.
  • Drag and drop it to a blank space anywhere on top of the page. [e.g. Drag the file menu and drop it right next to the “help”]
  • You can see the replica of the file menu next to the “help” [E.g. Two file menus on the same page!]
  • If you want to remove the same, press and hold the Alt key then click on the menu which you want to remove, and drag it towards the middle of the screen.
  • You can notice a “cross” mark on the pointer.
  • Now release the pointer.
  • Gone! :)

How to open .uif files in Linux.

The .uif files is created by Magic ISO, which is a windows application to create, edit, and extract CD/DVD image files. For windows there is a freeware tool called MaginDisk that can open UIF images. But in Linux, you have to convert it to an ISO image file to open it.

The fastest method to convert a UIF images to an ISO images is to use UIF2ISO. YUIF2ISO is a tool in Linux to convert a.uif file to .iso file. You can download and install this command line tool from here.

After downloading, unzip the tool and navigate into the src directory.

unzip uif2iso.zip

cd src

Now compile the source by the following command :

make

make install

Once you are over with the installation of the program, follow these steps to open your UIF images.

  • To open the file, first convert the .uif file to an .iso with the following command.

uif2iso abcd.uif xyz.iso

  • Now burn the ISO image with K3b or any other burning tool, or mount the ISO image with the following command

#mkdir iso_dir

#mount xyz.iso iso_dir/ \ -t iso9660 -o loop

Isn’t this easy enough :-)

How to stop Yahoo.com from redirecting to another Yahoo domain / country?

Yahoo! redirect its users located in select countries other than the United States from Yahoo.com to one of our country-specific sites (e.g. in.yahoo.com is for Yahoo! India).  This feature is to provide the Yahoo! users with the most locally relevant Yahoo! experience.

How this is done?

Yahoo! uses  your computer’s IP address , which is usually the internet address of your Internet Service Provider (ISP), to determine your country location and corresponding Yahoo! site. From your IP Yahoo! finds out your exact location and pulls up the home page for your Country.

If you’d prefer to visit Yahoo.com instead, click on the Yahoo.com link located directly below the Yahoo! logo. If you have cookies enabled on your browser, it browser will navigate directly to Yahoo.com on all subsequent visits.  If cookies are disabled, you’ll continue to be redirected each time you visit Yahoo! So you can prevent this either by enabling cookies or directly typing http://us.yahoo.com into your browser.  Visitors to http://us.yahoo.com will be shown the same site as Yahoo.com.
If you feel that Yahoo is redirecting you incorrectly, you can report them along with the following information’s.

Report Here

1. Your IP address.

Visit whatismyip.com to find out your IP.

2. Your location (e.g. Mumbai,India).

3. The Yahoo! site you’re being redirected to (e.g. au.yahoo.com).

USE YOUR NOTEPAD AS A DIARY

You must have seen this a million times before; though it’s too old I still believe it should be useful for those who never heard this trick before. This is for people who use notepad to write down any info on a day to day basis or just like a Diary!

  1. Open a blank Notepad file
  2. Type .LOG as the first line of the file, followed by an Enter. Save
the file and close it. [ make sure that you are typing the .LOG in capital letters ]
  3. Double-click the file to open it and notice that Notepad appends the current date and time to the end of the file and places the cursor on the line after.
  4. Type your notes and then save and close the file.
  5. Each time you open the file, Notepad repeats the process, appending the time and date to the end of the file and placing the cursor below it.

Resetting Administrator password in Windows NT / 2000 / XP / 2003

Here we are posting two of the most successful method’s to recover/ reset your windows administrator password. Please Don’t use this information to access a system which is not yours without permission.

First Methode

The first thing which you check if you forget login password. When we install Windows, it automatically creates an account “Administrator” and sets its password to blank. So if you have forget your user account password then try this:

Start system and when you see Windows Welcome screen / Login screen, press <ctrl>+<alt>+<del> keys twice and it’ll show Classic Login box. Now type “Administrator” (without quotes) in User name and leave Password field blank. Now press Enter and you should be able to log in Windows.

Now you can reset your account password from “Control Panel -> User Accounts”.

Same thing can be done using Safe Mode. In Safe Mode Windows will show this in-built Administrator account in Login screen.

Second methode

If the above mentioned trick don’t work, then try following trick which is actually a loophole in Windows XP Setup and a big security hole:

A. Boot using Windows XP Setup CD and follow the instruction like Accepting EULA, etc.

B. When it asks to repair your existing Windows installation, accept it and press “R” to run the repair.

C. Setup will start repairing your Windows and will start copying files, etc.

D. After a few minutes setup will restart your system and when it restarts don’t press any key when it shows “Press any key to continue…” otherwise Setup will start from the beginning. Don’t press any key and setup will resume where it left.

E. Now it’ll start doing other tasks and will show a small progress bar with a few details in left side.

F. Look carefully at the details and when it shows “Installing devices”, press <Shift>+F10 keys in your keyboard.

G. It’ll open a Command Prompt window. Now type nusrmgr.cpl and press <Enter>.

H. It’ll open the same “User Accounts” window which you see in Control Panel.

I. Now you can remove or reset any account password without any problem.
