How to install winrar for Linux

You can install & use winrar for Linux. The installation is quite simple to follow even for Linux newbies.

Open a terminal, type sudo su – to switch to root.

cd /usr/src

wget -c http://www.rarlab.com/rar/rarlinux-x64-3.8.0.tar.gz

tar -xzf rarlinux-x64-3.8.0.tar.gz

cd rar

make

You are done. Now you can use the commands rar and unrarĀ  for compressing and uncompressing files respectively.

eg: unrar filename.rar
