How to transfer a cPanel account to DirectAdmin.

The file structure and back-ups for both control panels are entirely different and its quite difficult to restore the files transfered from one to another control panel manually. There is a script available which can convert a cPanel back-up to the format that of a DirectAdmin. The convert process is quite simple.

Download the conversion script from here .

*You can download it using the terminal :

wget -c http://kade.nu/da/da.cpanel.import.9.4.tar.gz

*Create two directories import and export :

mkdir import export

*untar the script

tar -xzf da.cpanel.import.9.4.tar.gz

You will get two files da.cpanel.import.pl and defaults.conf. da.cpanel.import.pl is conversion script and defaults.conf is the configuration file.

*Copy the cPanel back-up into the import directory.

*Edit defaults.conf to match the DA server IP and nameservers.

*Execute the script to get the back-up converted.

perl da.cpanel.import.pl

*Back-up could be found inside export directory and you may get it restored.

Configure Windows XP to Automatically Login!

Click Start, Run and type CONTROL USERPASSWORDS2, and click Ok. Select the user account from the list (the account to which you want to automatically logon). Uncheck Users must enter a user name and password to use this computer option, and click Ok. Type the user account password and complete the process.

For Windows XP Home, don’t try to auto-login as the built-in Administrator, as you’ll receive an error message.

How to change Linux root password temporarily.

This is a simple technique by which you can have your our root password temporarily and change it back to the real one after use. The condition is

* You are logged in as root and you don’t know the root password

Back-up the current shadow file.

[root@localhost ~]# cp /etc/shadow /etc/shadowbkup

Change the current root password the desired one.

[root@localhost ~]# passwd root
Changing password for user root.
New UNIX password:
BAD PASSWORD: it is based on a dictionary word
Retype new UNIX password:
passwd: all authentication tokens updated successfully.

Now switch to a local user to test whether ‘your’ root password is working or not.

[root@localhost ~]# su – localuser ( localuser is an additional user )
[localuser@localhost ~]$ su – root
Password:
[root@localhost ~]#

Yes, you are now logged in as root with ‘your’ password.

Restore the previous root password, which is still unknown

[root@localhost ~]# mv /etc/shadowbkup /etc/shadow
mv: overwrite `/etc/shadow’? y
[root@localhost ~]#

This trick is meant for students and kindly do not misuse .

How to install winrar for Linux

You can install & use winrar for Linux. The installation is quite simple to follow even for Linux newbies.

Open a terminal, type sudo su – to switch to root.

cd /usr/src

wget -c http://www.rarlab.com/rar/rarlinux-x64-3.8.0.tar.gz

tar -xzf rarlinux-x64-3.8.0.tar.gz

cd rar

make

You are done. Now you can use the commands rar and unrar  for compressing and uncompressing files respectively.

eg: unrar filename.rar

social networking all together by Digsby.

“World’s first” 3D camera launched by FUJIFILM

Fujifilm has just launched its new FinePix REAL 3D W1, which is the world’s first camera to be able to capture and display images in 3D.

Capturing a 3D image is actually a simple matter of taking two different images of the same object, albeit from slightly different angles, to simulate the way our eyes capture the world around us. However displaying images in 3D is trickier.

This new camera features two lenses, placed at a distance that mimics the distance between human eyes. The best part is that the LCD panel at the back of the camera is capable of displaying 3D images, so you can actually live-preview the image you are taking in 3D without requiring any special glasses. However, unlike some most of the current LCD screens, the viewing angle is once again important here.

The camera offers point-and-shoot functionality for capturing 2D or 3D images or video, and manages everything automatically for the most part. The 3x zoom had to have been especially tricky with the dual lens system.

The camera can capture 2D or 3D images upto 10 megapixels, and can even record videos (2D or 3D) at VGA resolution. Fujifilm has tried to fully utilise the both the CCDs even while shooting 2D images, by allowing you to shoot an image in different modes with the different lenses. For example, you could shoot a close-up image with one and a wide-angle one with the other, all with a single click. The settings for both can be configured separately, so it is possible to capture the same image with different tones or effects.

Fujifilm will also shortly launch a 3D viewer to see the images without special glasses, the FinePix REAL 3D V1. The 8-inch LCD panel will offer some image and video management features. Unfortunately the viewer on display, while it did display images in 3D, also seemed to cause a mild headache. While this could be because of the slightly odd angle of viewing the screen, overall it is not a desirable effect. Not something you’d want to play Crysis on unless a haemorrhage is an acceptable risk.

FujiFilm claims to be the first in the world to offer the ability to not only shoot 3D images with their new 3D camera, and view images with the soon-to-come viewer, but they also offer the facility to print the said images in 3D. With a new service that they will launch soon, you will be able to print your photographs in 3D using lenticular printing.

In all, if you have been waiting for 3D to come to the mainstream, this might be it. 3D photography is only viable if there are means to view, store, and capture images in 3D, and Fujifilm has tried to address all three issues by launching products and services.

Priced at Rs. 41,999 the FinePix REAL 3D W1 it is still rather expensive if you are not explicitly interested in 3D photography.

How to install flash player in Centos / Redhat.

This post can also answer the question ” how to fix the firefox error on centos/redhat linux”
Installing the flash player on centos/redhat linux seems to be very difficult sometimes. But the installation is quite simple :) . The flash player may not be installed automatically using firefox. While trying install firefox, you may get the error following error ” Firefox could not install this item because “install-0zr..rdf” (provided by the item) is not well-formed or does not exist. Please contact the author about this problem.”The Screeshot of error is provided. To fix this issue, you need to upgrade/install certain libraries using yum. I have mentioned the commands below.
1. First you need to install those libraries (.i386 and .x86_64):
yum install curl compat-libstdc++-33 glibc nspluginwrapper
2. Once done with the libraries, we need to download the flash player rpm.
mkdir flash
cd flash
download the rpm inside the folder flash.

3. Next we need to execute the command below to install the rpm. This command should be executed inside the folder, where the rpm is downloaded. Ours is in the folder ‘flash’.
rpm -ivh flash-plugin-10.0.12.36-release.i386.rpm
(replace with the version of rpm you have downloaded)
4. Close the Firefox and restart it. You should be able to see the flashes hereafter.

Nokia launching new ‘X’ series of phones

What would you get if you made the 5800 XpressMusic sleeker, slimmer, sexier and threw in a 5-megapixel camera?

Like its predecessor, the phone sports a 3.2-inch touchscreen that displays 16 million colours at a resolution of 320×640 pixels, and comes complete with accelerometer and proximity sensor. As of now, it is unclear whether this is a resistive or capacitive touchscreen, so more on that as we find out.
The 5-megapixel camera with Carl Zeiss optics boasts of geo-tagging, autofocus and dual LED flash, not to mention video light for VGA video recording at 30 frames per second. As for storage, there is no expansion slot for a microSD card in this one. But would you really need it, considering it has 32GB of onboard storage? That’s more than enough space to enjoy all your songs on the 3.5mm headphone jack; and well, you can listen to the radio too, if you really want to.
Of course, it still runs on the Symbian Series 60 5th edition OS, powered by the same 434MHz processor and 128MB RAM as the N97 and N97 Mini. The X6 lets the user have any connectivity option he can think of, from 3G and Wi-Fi with UpnP to Bluetooth with A2DP and GPS with A-GPS.
The gaming features of the X6 are particularly impressive, with Spore, DJ Mix Tour and Asphalt4 coming pre-loaded on the phone. Nice!
The battery, as always, remains impressive as it clocks in 8 and half hours of talk-time, 35 hours of music playback, 4 hours of video playback and over 400 hours of standby time.
